Adolfo P. Sanchez

January 14, 1940 — December 23, 2020

Adolfo Sanchez was born on January 14, 1940, in the town of Domez De Alba, a province of Zamora, Spain and passed away on December 23, 2020, in Bakersfield, California.  Adolfo traveled to the United States in 1970 with a group of Spaniards contracted to work as sheepherders.  Adolfo landed in Bakersfield, California and worked as a sheepherder for Joe Mendiburu and later Lorenzo Iturriria.  Adolfo traveled back to Spain several times and later worked in Phoenix, Arizona with his brother Alfredo Sanchez.  Adolfo decided to make Bakersfield his home and in 1982 moved his family, wife Jesusa, son Jose and daughter Maria to Bakersfield.  Adolfo worked as a cook at Noriegas for 17 years.  Adolfo was an avid walker and enjoyed daily walks through the farmer’s fields in Northwest Bakersfield, where he made many new friends.  Adolfo is survived by his beloved wife and children, daughter in law Tina Ortiz, son in law Vince Pagano and six grandchildren, Ariana, Joseph, Gianna, Gabi, Makayla, Bianka and numerous extended family members in Arizona and Spain.  The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Hansa and Dr. Alan Cartmell and their staffs for all their care for the past 17 years.  Also a special thanks to Hoffman Hospice for all their assistance and loving care.
