It is with profound sadness that the family of Amanda Michelle Duncan announces her sudden passing on May 26, 2026, at the age of 41 years in Bakersfield, California.
Amanda was born on January 18th, 1985, in Bakersfield. She was the cherished daughter of Tom and Vicki Duncan. Amanda attended local schools and followed in both of their footsteps, learning to play the piano at an early age. She played travel softball and, as a freshman, was a pitcher at Highland High School. She then graduated from Bakersfield College and enrolled in Kaplan College, where she earned her RDA and entered the dental field as a dental assistant. Later she took a job with Thurman Orthodontics as a treatment coordinator. Amanda had found her calling. She loved her job and was a loyal employee for 13 years, helping hundreds of clients get their braces. She loved young children, and her greatest satisfaction was seeing the finished product when her clients finally got their braces off.
Amanda loved the outdoors. She loved to shoot and hunt, but her greatest love was fishing. When she was 2 years old, she cast her first fishing pole into Lake Sabrina. Her favorite place to fish was the beautiful Mammoth Lakes area. She fished at many of the lakes in that area, and no matter who she was with, she usually caught the most and the biggest ones. You would find her there every summer. Fishing took her to a place of solitude and peace.
Amanda is preceded in death by her grandmothers and grandfathers. She is survived by her parents, Tom and Vicki Duncan; her brothers, Erik (Melissa) and Jake (Lacy); her beloved nieces and nephews, Lauren, AJ, Natalie, Harrison, Allison, Sophia; and her Goddaughter, Abigail. She is also survived by numerous beloved aunts and uncles and her loyal dog, Hunter.
