Carrie Ann Sill

April 28, 1958 – February 16, 2026

Carrie Ann Sill passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Carrie Ann was born to Millie and George Caratan on April 28, 1958, in Delano. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and Delano High School before graduating from the University of Southern California.

On July 26, 1980, she married the love of her life, Hugh Sill, in a fabulous wedding in Pebble Beach. They quickly began building their family and were blessed with four children.

Carrie Ann devoted 22½ years to teaching elementary school, forming some of her dearest friendships during that time. Teaching was a true passion that was sadly cut short due to health reasons. She missed her students dearly and carried them in her heart always.

Carrie Ann had three great loves in life: faith, family, and food.

Faith. She possessed a deep and unwavering faith that sustained her through both the darkest tragedies and the greatest joys of her life. She turned to God in times of sorrow and in moments of gratitude, trusting fully in His plan.

Family. Family was the purpose of her life. She taught her children that family comes before everything and led by example, showing that when you put family first, your life will be fulfilled.

Food. Carrie Ann was an incredible cook. She loved hosting, entertaining, and preparing wonderful meals. Many reading this were blessed to attend her memorable dinner parties — where she and Hugh always believed “the more, the merrier.” They never needed much of an excuse to gather loved ones around their table. She also generously volunteered her time at St. Francis Church, helping with Monday night meals for the less fortunate and baking cakes monthly for St. Vincent de Paul.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Hunter Sill; Nika Sill; and Oliver Sill and his wife, Hallie Sill. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Sophie and George Morse, and Henry and Grant Sill.

She is also survived by her brother, Anton Caratan and his wife, Sarane Caratan; her best friend and sister, George Ann Caratan; and her father and stepmother, George and Diane Caratan. Carrie Ann leaves behind numerous sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Sill; her son, George Caratan Sill; her mother, Millie Caratan; her sister, Nika Caratan: her brother in laws, Terrry Wyatt and Don Hynds.

Carrie Ann deeply valued education, especially Catholic education. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Parish School, 2516 Palm Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304.
