EVELYN WATSON

Evelyn was born March 22, 1938 to Jake and Clara Ratzlaff in Bakersfield, CA and passed away July 11, 2022 at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her children Steve, Mark, Roy and David (Lisa) Watson, as well as grandchildren Seth, Lauren and Bryce Watson, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Shirley (Frank) Unruh and brother Jerry (Lurene) Grimes. She was preceded in death by her sister Eva Ratzlaff and brother Ed Grimes.

Evelyn lived a very busy home life helping to raise her four sons and dutifully taking them to church every Sunday. She also held various jobs to help contribute to the family budget that provided for a comfortable upbringing. In her later years she enjoyed day trips, going to the local senior center for bingo, and lunch dates with friends. She is loved and will be missed.

Visitation will be held at Doughty Calhoun O'Meara Funeral Home in Bakersfield on Friday, July 22 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 23 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.

Guestbook

Evelyn was a good friend. She always had time for a phone visit or a little lunch out. Her optimistic ways showed in her life everyday. She found the joy and fun in the routine things ~ like making soup ( which she loved ) or playing Bingo. Her favorite spice was thyme. She enjoyed it on vegetables.
Evelyn loved her four sons and her grandchildren. All the happy details of their visits to see her were shared with loving detail.
She also loved God ~ she let all know that.
I’ll miss my friend very much.
I offer my sincere sympathies to her family . 💗

Occasionally Dave and I would go to work with Mom and sleep in the car during her night shift. We had a lot of fun.

I am so sorry; I remember Evelyn in High School & we went to the same church. She married my cousin, so she became my cousin. We shared good times, she will be missed.

Yes, joining with all your Christian brothers and sisters in praying for your peace and comfort in the face of your great loss. May you each be comforted as only God can do through the Holy Spirit, and may He hold you safely in His Hands.
We join in belief based on God’s Biblical promises that all who have trusted and accepted Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior will have a glorious reunion around God’s Throne as we lift up praises for eternity!
