Gregory James Fowler

Greg Fowler, 76, of Bakersfield, passed away on May 9, 2026. Born in Tulare on July 30, 1949, Greg was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and deep devotion to his family and community. He built a long and successful career as a heavy equipment operator and contractor, founding Gamcon Construction and later co-founding Brown and Fowler Construction. He also gave generously of his time through community service, including work with Northwest Little League, North High School, and Pyles Boys Camp.

Greg loved to travel, especially for his annual trips to Omaha for the College World Series, where he made lasting memories and new friendships each year. He also found happiness in simple routines and family traditions, including bike rides along the path, Thursday breakfasts with “The Boys,” and twice-weekly tennis with the “Under the Hill Gang” at the Bakersfield Racquet Club. Above all, he cherished hosting family holiday celebrations and spending time with his granddaughters.

Greg is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Meagan (Ryan) and Matt (Justine); his brother, Randy; his grandchildren, Lucia, Natalia, Amelie, and Stevie; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who shared in his activities, hobbies, and interests over the years.

Please consider a donation to the Kern Community Tennis Association to honor Greg's memory.

His memory will live on in all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life is planned in June 2026.
