Irene Marie Martinez Garcia

(Reenee Beanie)

July 24, 1954 - January 4, 2024

Irene unexpectedly slipped the boundaries of earth, then landing in heaven as one of GOD'S eternal angels, to watch over her family; plus, extended family.

Irene was a strong, proud, and resilient woman, who took life as it came. Growing up on a mini Ranch, and being a 4-H member, Club President, and 4-H All Star.  In 4-H she was taught how to cook, sew, and raise sheep. Irene every year entered her sewing, baking, and would show her sheep at the Kern County Fair. Irene also received First Place in the Sheep Blocking Contest, then went on to represent Kern County at the Fresno Fair placing in the top 10 out of 50 contestants. This is when Irene decided to always thrive to do her best in various activities, starting with school teams: volleyball, basketball, swim and Drill team. Then going on to become the Glennville Rodeo Queen. Not to mention Irene's artistic touch in drawing and costume making, which she enjoyed.

Irene's later years after high school, she worked for Clerou Tire as a Secretary until she left to San Antonio Texas to get married.  Irene went from Texas to Germany where she had her first child. Then to San Bernardino and to Bakersfield and then having her second child at Edward's Air Force Base. In Bakersfield Irene started working for the County as a Clerk Typist; private secretary to a program director and then she became a Program Supervisor. During this time she had her third. Years later Irene married the love of her life Omar, and had her fourth child.

Irene retired from the County but she would say they plain got tired of her and she would chuckle.

During her retirement Irene enjoyed watching old shows and good movies with her beloved pet Ginger. She enjoyed being told a funny joke in person or on the phone with family or a good friend; Irene had such a beautiful contagious laugh, you couldn't help but smile.

Irene went on what she called little adventures; going to new restaurants or gambling in Las Vegas and Eagle Moutain Casino with her loving husband. I don't think Irene ever met a slot machine she couldn't tame or charm.

Irene's family gatherings, plus watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchild growing up before her eyes over filled her heart with so much love and joy. Also, she loved her rather lengthy phone calls with her sister, where they laughed and joked to their hearts content.
