In Loving Memory
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jane Vandborg will be celebrated at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with a rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Arvin Cemetery.
Jane was born on February 13, 1925, in Holland to Peter Thissen and Maria Faessen. She was one of eleven children. In 1953, she moved to the United States, where she met the love of her life, Hans Vandborg, who had come from Denmark. They married in 1955 and built their life together farming in the Weedpatch area.
Jane was a woman of deep faith and active service to her parish community. For many years, she was a dedicated member of the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary at Sacred Heart Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans, and her daughter, Helen.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Angie) Vandborg and Mark (Terri) Vandborg; her grandchildren, Mike (Lauren) Vandborg, Jennifer (Jason) Durham, Sheila (Andy) Coyle, Kyle (Jordyn) Richardson, Eric (Anne) Richardson, and their father, Garry (Joan) Richardson, Steffani Vandborg, Kati (Alex) Wooner, Juliana Vandborg, and Ryan Vandborg; and by her 15 great‑grandchildren, who brought her so much joy.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Magnolia Place and Hoffmann Hospice for their loving care of Jane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hoffmann Hospice.
Jane’s legacy of love, resilience, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
