Josephine (Josie) Adeline Smith, 70, of Bakersfield, passed away on February 25th, 2023. She left us sadly and very unexpectedly. All who knew her have the comfort knowing that she is at peace in Heaven.
Josie was born on September 3rd, 1952, to Joseph Sarmiento and Adeline Juiliano in Los Angeles. After Josie graduated from Hollywood High School in 1970, she married her husband of 51 years, Craig Smith, in 1972. They went on to be very successful at anything they did together from her being a paralegal and secretary to both working side by side at their car lot or recycling centers.
Josie and Craig shared three children together, Melissa Williams, Craig Smith II, and Amy Smith.
Josie was a beloved wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, sister-in-law, a great big sister, and amazing and loyal friend to all who were blessed to know her. She enjoyed music, concerts, cooking, gardening and being with her family.
Nothing brought Josie more joy than knowing her children were happy and safe. Josie will be desperately missed by all those that she has left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Your everlasting love guides us every day. You are always walking by our side. It will be hard because you were the glue of our family, holding us together.
A celebration of her life will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, at the Stockdale Moose Lodge
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Blessing Corner on Union Avenue, Bakersfield CA, or the Ronald McDonald House.
