June "Babe" Booth passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, just three weeks shy of her 99th birthday.
June was born on June 21, 1927, in Bakersfield, California, to Lawrence and Ann Geimer. As the youngest of eight children, she was affectionately nicknamed "Babe," a name that remained with her throughout her life.
June married Richard "Dick" Booth in 1946. Together they had two daughters, Carol and Peggy. During her career, June worked for the County of Kern and later for the State of California as a court reporter.
In her younger years, June enjoyed playing tennis with friends. She was an avid bridge player, a lifelong passion through which she formed many lasting friendships. She was also a voracious reader who particularly enjoyed biographies, with a special interest in Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
While June experienced heartache during the first half of her life with the loss of her daughter Peggy and later her husband Dick, she found peace in the decades that followed. She enjoyed more than 40 years of retirement, spending much of that time playing bridge, gardening, traveling and making lasting memories with family and friends.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Peggy Booth; and her siblings, Margaret Beckham, Delphine Marsh, George Geimer, Genevieve Ernst, Jeanne Ellis, Alice Jonas and Barbara Petersen.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Cline; grandchildren Andrea Sullivan (Brandon), Tim McCrary (Josette), and Peggy Dirkse (Matt); great-grandchildren Noelle, Juliette, and Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to healthcare aide Sonia Turcios for the compassionate care she provided during the last four years of June's life, and to her caregiver, Dolores, for her dedicated support. We also wish to thank Donna and Andrea of Devoted Hearts Senior Care Home for the kindness, love, and comfort they provided during June's final month.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Doughty Calhoun O'Meara, 1100 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in June’s memory to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) at madd.org.
