Laura Margaret Sacco

June 27, 1960 — October 23, 2020

Laura Sacco, 60, passed away on October 23rd in Bakersfield, California. Laura engaged in life passionately. Always caught up in the excitement of the moment, she filled the space around her with laughter and wanted others to feel the same. If anyone could be found spontaneously breaking into song and dance, it was Laura. She was utterly charming and social; she had a unique and irresistible wit that drew people to her and an uncanny ability to make friends wherever she went. For Laura, there was no greater joy than embarking on new adventures with loved ones in tow. The greatest loves of Laura’s life were her children. Everything she did in her past five years was to bring her family together. In that time, her willingness to do so took her around the country to work; salmon factories in Alaska, leading Alaskan tours for a cruise line, catering in Utah, and finally, as a private chef. She spent much of her earlier career in real estate and working as an esthetician too. Laura was nothing short of dynamic, creative, and hardworking. Though Laura could easily take center stage, she was deeply sensitive and remained observant to the emotions of those around her: humans, animals, and especially dogs. She quickly picked up on others’ feelings, and helped them get straight to the heart of the issue. She had a knack for making others happy, even in the hardest of situations. Laura believed the root to all in this life was simply love and forgiveness. For those who knew and cared for her, she will be remembered for the way in which she loved with her whole heart, and of course, for her exceptional cooking. Laura was born June 27th 1960 in Bakersfield, California. She graduated from Bakersfield's Highland High School in 1978 and lived in many locations all over the world. She is survived by her mother Eunice Sacco; only son Brandon Sacco; siblings Anthony, Philip, and John Sacco; uncle Rommy Craig; cousins Lisa Franceschi, Geni Short, Lori Castanos, and Michelle and Amanda Craig; nephews, Philip and Giancarlo Sacco; nieces Claudia Aragon and Giovanna Sacco; and great niece Alana Sacco. She was preceded in death by her father Ben Sacco, sister Angela Aragon, and only daughter Sara Hudson. Due to Covid-19, services will be privately held. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Doughty-Calhoun Funeral Home 1100 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93301. Memorials may be made to Genesis Women's Shelter Outreach at www.genesisshelter.org
