Luigi Louis Oreste Petrini

June 24, 1938 — January 4, 2021

Our most wonderful father Luigi “Louis” Oreste Petrini was called home to be with our Lord and savior on Monday, January 4th 2021.  Although we are going to miss him dearly, we find great comfort in knowing he has rejoined his beloved wife of 59 years and our mom, Carol.

Louie was born in Bakersfield on June 24th, 1938 to Carlo and Lillian (Lencioni) Petrini.  As the first-born son of Italian immigrants, he assumed much responsibility for his younger sister and brother and quickly developed a strong work ethic.

Louie graduated from Garces in June of 1956 and immediately joined the Army.  He proudly served in the Korean War for two years as an interpreter.

Upon returning from the war, he started working in construction with his Uncle, John Lencioni of Colombo Construction.  After gleaning much knowledge and wisdom, he went on to acquire his own contractors license and expand his portfolio which included several buildings and developments throughout Kern County.  As proud as he was of his own work ethics, he became even prouder as each of his sons eventually joined him in the construction field, later forming Petrini Construction.

He met and married the love of his life, Carol (Campbell) on August 6, 1960.  Theirs was a love story that truly endured.  While work accomplishments were important, they didn’t hold a candle to the way he felt about his family.  To Dad, family was everything.  One of his favorite sayings was “Together we are strong, apart we become weak”.  He would stress that anything could be accomplished as long as we stick together.  He showed us his constant love for our mom by always showing up!  He never missed anything.  From school functions, sporting events, 4-H projects, church milestones and even chaperoned every trip to Catalina with each of his Norris School graduates.

He will forever live in the hearts of his eleven grandchildren, whom he had a most special relationship with.  To them, Poppa Louie hung the moon and was always there for them in any time of need.  Then came eight great-grandchildren who were blessed enough to know his love.  Not only was he extra special and dearly loved by his immediate family, his title of Poppa Louie transcended to all of our friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Petrini, sons and their wives, Greg (Elizabeth) Petrini, Michael (Debbie) Petrini, Joseph (Shannon) Petrini.  Grandchildren, Suzanne (Andrew) Taylor, Darren (Tiffany) Hauser, Ryan (Brianne) Hauser, Marco, Maci, Dominic, Dante, Gino, Isabella, Ilaria and Carla Petrini, his precious great-grandchildren, Grayson, Brexton and Hudson Taylor, Matix, Nixon and Jaxon Hauser, Bayler and Anthony Hauser.  Brother in law, Joe (Jana) Campbell, Sister in law, Sue (Jerry) Porter.

Special thanks to Dr Dennis Sheehan, Dr Craig Miller, Dr Larry Yokoyama and Dr Hansa for loving and caring for dad as much as we did.  It is a kindness that will never be forgotten.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Garces Memorial High School Booster Club in remembrance of Louie Petrini.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 18th beginning at 10:30am at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd Bakersfield CA 93306.
