Mark Timothy Rodgers

June 17, 1951 – October 26, 2025

Mark Timothy Rodgers passed away peacefully in Bakersfield on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at age 74, surrounded by his family and loved ones, after several years of health problems. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, friend, and mentor, and he was a tireless member of the Bakersfield business community for well over 50 years.

Born in Bakersfield in 1951, Mark grew up in its fertile soils. He attended Foothill High School and Bakersfield College, followed by a couple years away at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, before returning to Bakersfield to focus on family and work, both at which he tirelessly worked for the rest of his life.

As a true son of Bakersfield, Mark loved to build things and shape their growth, from the company he cofounded in 1980 with his father Guy W. Rodgers, Argo Chemical, to the homes in which he lived, to his family. He was proud to be an impactful contributor to his community and its neighbors, businesses, and charities, and the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, which his family helped build more than 70 years ago.

He was also proud to be a fierce and often victorious competitor in all aspects of his life, from high school and college football, to adult City League basketball, to the regional and international chemical industry. His accomplished business legacy will live on as Argo Chemical will continue to be run by the next generation in Mark’s son Guy M. Rodgers and Mark’s business partner and close friend Kris Austin.

Mark is survived by his wife Sandi, daughter Mychelle, son Guy and daughter-in-law Giselle and granddaughter Eowyn, sister Michele, brother Lance and sister-in-law Liz and nephews Blake and Dustin and niece Ariel, his beloved in-laws Lingta and Aubrey, his cherished business partner Kris, and many other dear cousins and relatives and friends.

According to his wishes, private funeral services were held for immediate family only at Doughty Calhoun O’Meara, with a celebration of life to be held in the coming weeks at the Seven Oaks Country Club, of which Mark was proud to have been a Charter Member.

He always strove for perfection and pushed those around him to do the same, and in so doing made sure that those he loved would be taken care of even in his absence. In kind, his loved ones thank him for his hard work, and will continue to make him proud into their future.
