MARSHALL "TOM" COLLINS

Marshall Thomas Collins Jr. “Tom,” age 89 passed away on July 27, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born to Marshall and Berniece Collins on December 27, 1933, in Bakersfield, California.

Tom joined the Air Force in September 1952. He was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico and active for 4 years. He then came back to Bakersfield and started his career with Standard Oil, spending most of his years in the pipeline division. He retired from Chevron after 36 years of employment.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Elsie Collins, son Dennis (Penny) Collins, daughters Donna (David) Mask and Diane (Ron) Johnson, grandchildren Marie Sabo, Cory Collins, Ryan Mask, Chad Johnson, Blake Mask and Chelsea Dow, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, brothers Gerald and Richard Collins, sisters Patricia Mahan and Donna Collins (deceased).

Tom and Elsie’s retirement years were filled with extensive traveling within the US and Europe with family and friends. Tom also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time at home with the family.

Tom was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where he found great comfort and peace in his religion. We would like to thank Father Jude Eli for the special time he spent with Tom especially during the last few months of his life. We would also like to thank Dr. Atul Aggarwal for his help and care.

Tom will be missed by his loving family and will always be remembered in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to Saint Francis Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church or donate to your favorite charity in Tom’s name.

Visitation is scheduled Monday August 7^th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-O’Meara. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, August 8^th at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Southwest.
