Michael Chad Bullock

Mike Bullock passed away after a long hospital stay on July 1, 2022, in Oklahoma City at the age of 78. Mike was born May 2, 1944, to loving parents Don and Vera Bullock in Bakersfield, CA. He lived in the Old River area all his childhood where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated from Buena Vista grammar school class of 1958 and South High class of 1962, where he was active in sports and FFA. Mike had a lifelong love for fast beautiful cars. He had a 1960 El Camino that won many races and trophies. At the age of 14, in 1958, he was hired as a box-boy for Al Salyer at Center Market in Pumpkin Center. Little did he know this was the start to a 46-year long career in the grocery business. He went on to be a manager at the Center Market in Rosedale. Later he would be a partner in the Sportsman Center in Lake Isabella CA, and was also a partner in the Center Market in the Hillcrest Shopping Center in Bakersfield. In 1984 he bought C&H market in New Cuyama, CA.  During his years in the Cuyama Valley he was active with many local charities, and there he made his home until he retired in 2004 in Duncan, Oklahoma,

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Don and Vera Bullock of Bakersfield; sister Donna Bugni of Bakersfield; and son Michael Chad Bullock II. He is survived by his wife Jean Bullock of Duncan, Oklahoma; son Matt Bullock of Duncan, Oklahoma; granddaughter Amanda and Erik Liske of Lake Isabella, CA: stepdaughters Julie and Dick Terry of Hardin Texas, Lori Sarathy and her daughter Alex of Dallas, Texas; stepson Richard and Val Dixon and their son and daughter Kyle and Diane of Garden Grove. CA; nieces Kellee and Tor Wolber of Bakersfield, Kristin and Vint Varner of Bakersfield. Also, numerous great-grand kids and great niece and nephew. He will always be remembered for his wit and love of family. Also, that everyone got a nick name.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday July 28, 2022, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, 93313.
