I write this obit not as a resume but rather as a tribute to those who have made my journey a more meaningful one. My greatest fortune in life was to meet Carol Virginia Beller while we were students at Muncie Central High School (Indiana). We were married in 1960, had two children, then completed college and moved to Shafter to start a career in education which spanned 50 years. Carol has given me her unconditional love and always “had my back”. I am secure in my Christian beliefs which became our guidepost. I hope that all will receive the word of the Lord and have an everlasting life. I was truly blessed with supportive colleagues, engaging students, steadfast friends and a wonderful family who encouraged me while tolerating my political mutterings and writings. Born the second child of Marvin & Madalyn Hatcher, I had one sister, Marcia (Bob) whom I loved very much. Our two children, William Bradley (Linda), and Lori Lynn were the focal part of my life. Grandchildren Connor (Christina), Jeff (Megan), Lindsey, and Carson (Rebecca) and great grandchildren Jamie, Hendrix, and Casey have become the nexus that made my life complete. A special thanks to Dr. William F Baker who hounded me on staying fit. My parting wish to family is that you assist some kid(s) to pursue their chosen vocation. Kind words always help but so does a few bucks in their pockets. As per my request, there will be no services or celebration of life held upon my passing. Carol and I traveled throughout the world but will ultimately have our ashes spread together at sea in San Diego where we found peace, tranquility and many memorable boating experiences.
