Yvonne Loustalot Liner

Yvonne Loustalot Liner, a woman of remarkable spirit and a lifelong daughter of Kern County, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 104. She was born on December 30, 1921, at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, the first grandchild of the Loustalot family, to Frank and Zola Loustalot. She grew up on the family ranch in the Panama area and graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1939 and Bakersfield Junior College in 1941.

In her youth Yvonne married her first love, First Lieutenant E. P. Burley, an Army Air Corps pilot, at Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas. In 1943 he gave his life in the service of his country, killed while flying wounded soldiers out of the jungles of the South Pacific during World War II.

In 1945 Yvonne met the great love of her life, Raymond K. Liner, in the lobby of the Padre Hotel, and the two were married at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas. Together for 53 years until Ray's passing in 1998, they built a life full of adventure -owning and running Liner Pest Control, hunting and exploring on Tejon Ranch, and traveling the world. They were blessed with one son, John Markley Liner.

Yvonne's passions were many. A gifted artist, she took up oils and watercolors in her forties and completed more than 400 paintings, from portraits to landscapes, that remain cherished by those who love her. She was a devoted volunteer tutor at Munsey School, a wonderful seamstress, and a friend and mentor to all who knew her. For over 40 years Yvonne attended a Monday night support group, where she met many people who have remained steadfast friends. In 2008 she moved to Rosewood, where from her balcony she could see the mountain on which she had scattered Ray's ashes. On her ninetieth birthday, family and friends honored her with what she called the greatest party of her life - a celebration she considered her memorial, cherishing the chance to be among everyone she loved.

Yvonne is survived by her five grandsons, Michael, Anthony, Brandon, Nicholas, and Jeremy; several great-grandchildren; and her nieces, Vicki and Jan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond; her son, John Markley (Mark) Liner; her daughter-in-law, Christine; her granddaughter, Jamie; and her brothers, Al Loustalot and his wife, Nancy, and Frank Loustalot Jr. (Bud) and his wife, Dorothy.

Though Yvonne was on the quiet side about her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, she knew that when she took her last breath, she would be in eternity with her Lord and Savior. She appreciated and was comforted by Psalm 23 while being cared for in her last two years.

On behalf of Yvonne, the family wishes to thank Rosewood Health Center and Hoffman Hospice for the loving care they gave her during the last two and one-half years of her life.

All in all, it was a great journey - and she was so glad she got to make the trip.
